Bilger’s Rocks – Called “Rock City” by geologists is a group large rocks and boulders with some 20 to 30 foot high and has multiple trails to explore the rocks and enjoy the outdoors. This ancient rock formation covers some 20 acres and has been preserved as a public park. Bilger’s Rocks has multiple picnic tables so pack a lunch and put on hiking boots and spend a day at the Rocks. Bilger’s Rocks is located 3 miles north of Grampian on SR219 make a right at the large wooden Bilger’s sign. Follow past a few farms until you enter the reserve with parking on your right.
Curwensville Lake – Offers a wide range of outdoor opportunities and amenities including no horse power restrictions for boaters, 200 picnic tables and 22 grills, five picnic pavilions with lighting, electric and charcoal grills, 44 electric RV sites, 5 primitive tent sites, 6 children's play structures, sand volleyball court, and beach with lifeguards on duty. Curwensville Lake is located on Route 453 South in Curwensville, PA then turn Right at the Curwensville Lake sign and drive approximately 2 Miles into the park.
Parker Dam State Park – Is a 968 acre state park that offers a scenic lake, rustic cabins, quaint campground, beach, fishing, trails, mountain biking, and unbounded forest make Parker Dam State Park an ideal location for a relaxing, fun, and exciting vacation spot. To get to Parker Dam State Park from Interstate 80, take Exit 111 onto Route 153 North for 5.5 miles. Turn right onto Mud Run Road, and then drive 2.5 miles to the park.
S.B. Elliot State Park – Is a 318-acre state park is located in the heart of the Moshannon State Forest. This is an entirely wooded park and offers picturesque areas of forests, 6 rustic cabins, rustic camping, picnic areas, snowmobiling, and 3 miles of hiking trails. S. B. Elliott State Park is off of PA 153 just north of Exit 111 of I-80, nine miles north of Clearfield.
Shagger's Inn Shallow Water Impound – Is a excellent place located on Shagger’s Inn Road which at the end of 4 mile road outside of S.B. Elliot State Park. The shallow water impoundment is a great place to go fishing and offers some excellent bass, crappie, and pickerel fishing. If you wish to fish the entire pond you will need chest waders, float boat, or canoe to fish all parts of the water impoundment. To get to Shagger’s Inn Pond get off of 153 at S.B. Elliot State Park, then follow 4 Mile Road to the end of the road. Turn Right for approximately 1 Mile then turn Left on Shagger’s Inn Road the entrance to the pond is less than a mile on the Right side of the road.
Clearfield to Grampian Rails to Trails – Is approximately 12.5 mile bike trek along the, the West Branch of the Susquehanna. Bikers and hikers will also find break points to stop and take a break and take in the beauty of Clearfield, Curwensville and Grampian. The Clearfield trailhead is between Old Town Road and Spruce Street on Chester Street in Clearfield. Watch for trail head sign on the side of the road. There are convenient parking at trailhead and select points along the Clearfield to Curwensville Highway. The Grampian trailhead is within sight of the red light in the heart of Grampian.
Little Clearfield Creek – Offers some great opportunities for trout fishing and hiking the Pennsylvania Wilds. The stream runs through Olanta and can be accessed in various locations. The stream offers a delayed harvest fly fishing only project which can be accessed 1.3 miles above SR 2023 (Turkey Hill) bridge going upstream. Also a popular place to access the stream is just below the Turkey Hill Bridge toward Glen Richey. At the sharp turn just past the church take a left then turn left on to a dirt road. There are several parking places along the stream and many deep holes to fish.
West Branch of the Susquehanna River – 228 Miles of River from Cherry Tree to Sunbury offers some great outdoor recreation opportunities from canoing to fishing this river screams outdoor fun. There are many locations to canoe the river, but some of the most popular are Mahaffy to Curwensville Lake (Lumber City Bridge), and from below raftsman dam in Clearfield to Shawville, and from below Shawville Power Dam to Deer Creek Bridge (Down River). This river also offers some excellent smallmouth and a ever growing trout population. Excellent places to fish are from below Curwensville Lake to Clearfield a very popular place to fish is at the Hyde Bridge in Clearfield. This location is stocked and can be a great place to catch some trout in the spring and some smallmouth bass in the summer. Areas to launch and pickup canoes and the amenities they have:
